Fortunately, Apple has published workarounds for this issue. Particularly, there are two fixes. The very first is to produce a bootable installer using another Mac.

You should check out Apple’s fixes here

Apple appears to point out this issue occurs there are updated to macOS Big Sur 11..1 however i will tell you that despite updating, I still faced this error.

I’ve not attempted Apple’s fixes so I can not discuss their effectiveness. Things I did do in order to restore M1 Mac is boot it into DFU mode and restore it utilizing a second Mac with Apple Configurator 2

Booting into DFU mode is hard and needs timing and a few hands acrobatics, however if you simply can take action, the procedure takes only about twenty minutes. You’ll find the steps I required to revive my M1 Mac here.

The issue with this particular fix is it needs a second Mac however i have attempted it and I’m able to confirm it really works.
